About Our Registered Charity
Treatment of any kind is not enough to sustain recovery. Recovery is a long-game requiring one to three years or more of support.
AABC provides free support services for anyone at any stage in the process of healing from addiction or trauma.
AABC addresses the social drivers of addiction. We help each other experience real human connection and provide free access to holistic healing services.
Our model fosters connections and bridges in the community to embrace sustainable recovery through a community that devotes itself exclusively to the unique non-treatment needs that trauma recovery, including addiction, presents for individuals and families.
Connection is our soul purpose – it is the foundation of all we are built on at AABC.
In our programs people in pre and post treatment recovery, their families and friends, can exchange information, develop a support system and create a sense of hope, in a warm, caring and welcoming atmosphere.
We advance the practical application of programs and projects by making such initiatives available to the public by creating, distributing, disseminating and implementing tools, systems and programs for the benefit of individuals, families and communities.
Our facilities & programs are intentionally designed to enhance an individual’s experience of connectedness, rather than diagnosing & treating specific problems.
We believe that using the label addict facilitates socially-acceptable shaming. Stigmatizing people as addicts and creating non-addict/addict relationships in therapeutic settings often worsens the roots causes of addiction: isolation and disconnectedness.
We’re all humans first, and we all experience hardship and loneliness.
At Alberta Association for Better Communities, clients are given the respect and nurturing care they deserve. We believe everyone in need of trauma recovery, including addiction and PTSD, is capable of achieving their full potential.
It is with our philosophy that we teach you the management tools to reclaim your life as you move through your recovery.
Our objective is to address the inner core of addiction with Compassionate Inquiry, holistic programming and support services to reframe inner beliefs and heal the underlying pain that has allowed addiction to manifest.
A strong and interconnected community where individuals struggling with mental illness and addictions find solace and feel supported throughout their journeys
Be the conduit for our clients to connect them and their families with the services that best suit their needs while fostering compassion, connection, and community.
Each person holds so much power within themselves that needs to be let out. Sometimes they just need a little nudge, a little direction, a little support, a little coaching, and the greatest things can happen.
